What to do in Houston this weekend | July 7 — 9

It’s the second weekend in July already, and I’ve figured out what you should be doing in Houston this weekend! As usual the Bayou City has a ton of things going on from tons of art markets to new indian restaurants all the way to Friday Kahlo’s 110th birthday party! Whatever you’re interested in this weekend, whether it be to shop, be active, get artsy, eat… I’ve got your Houston weekend plans below!

What to do in Houston this weekend | June 7 — 9

  • 19th street in the heights is having their Semi-Annual tent sale on Saturday from 10 — 6PM! Big discounts from the heights’ best stores – emerson rose, manready mercantile, & more!
  • The Harisburg Art Museum (Ham) is having another art market on Saturday from 12 — 6PM! Murals, vintage goods vendors, live music, food, & more! Should be a cool time!
  • It’s Second Saturday at Sawyer Yards again which means from 12 — 5PM you can check out the extensive collections of art, jewelry, clothing, photography & more in the extensive studios!
  • The Market at Sawyer Yards at night is back & boomin’ on Saturday from 6 — 10PM! This is always such a fun way to spend your Saturday night. You can check out the art wall, shop a bit, and grab a bite & a drink!
  • The UH Graphic Design students are having two more print shows this weekend! One will be at Holler Brewing Co on Saturday from from 2 — 7PM! The second will be at Senpai’s in Galveston this Sunday at their NOW! That’s What I Call Pub Crawl party from 5 to 11 pm. There’ll also be live music and BBQ!
  • Saint Arnold’s Brewing Co is having a pop-up market on Friday from 5 — 10PM! Live music, great vendors, beer & more!

What to do in Houston this weekend | June 7 — 9

  • Good Dog is still celebrating National Hot Dog Month with an event on Saturday from 12 — 6PM with 8th Wonder doing a 4 tap takeover along with a new Texas Bratwurst special made in collabor8tion with 8th Wonder!
  • Tarka Indian Kitchen just opened in the Heights in the past few weeks, so go check it out! The cuisine at Tarka is designed to be prepared in 10 minutes and cost less than $10. Lines have been long so it must be good!
  • Holler Brewing Co is keeping the fourth of July celebration going with a Holler for BBQ event on Sunday starting at 2PM with Feges BBQ! Feges BBQ is owned by acclaimed pitmaster Patrick Feges, who has been a part of some of Houston’s best kitchens, including Southern Goods, Underbelly, and Killen’s Barbecue.
  • Camerata (one of my fav wine bars) is having their 4th birthday party this Sunday starting at 4PM and going until close! They’re going to have great drinks & cookies from Paulie’s next door!
  • Izakaya in midtown is hosting a Festival of Roses this Saturday starting at noon. There will be rose sampling from reps, but also a new menu of craft cocktails. There will be a DJ providing music, a photo booth for making keepsakes and more fun and games.
  • ALSO, check out Eater Houston’s Hottest Restaurants in Houston right now (July 2017)! I’ve been to about half of these restaurants (Better Luck Tomorrow, Ramen Tatsu-ya, FM Kitchen & Bar) & can attest they’re great & you need to try em’!
  • Thursday is National Fried Chicken Day which means you better pop on down to The Conservatory and get you some! They’re having a pop up from 5 — 9PM serving fried chicken & fries!

  • Celebrate Frida Kahlo’s 110th birthday with Loteria on Thursday night from 6 — 9PM at Cuchara! It’ll be a fun night of playing Frida themed Loteria – Mexican Bingo! Can’t forget yummy authentic Mexican food and drinks!
  • The Dunlavy is having Friday night live music starting at 2PM and going through 8PM! Wander buffalo bayou (my fav part of Houston) and then join this fun happy hour!
  • Get excited for the World Famous Saint Arnold Downtown Pub Crawl going on this Saturday from 2 — 6PM! When you show up in between 2 & 3 PM you’ll get your punch card, and from there, you’ll learn your route! Grab your friends & get to drinkin’ those brews!
  • Eureka Heights Brewing Co is hosting another Super Smash Bros tournament on Sunday from 2 — 5PM! Signup is from noon — 1 and winner gets a three pack of Crowlers to take home and savor their 64 bit victory!
  • Saint Arnold’s Brewing is having a Pints for Pups event on Saturday from 2 — 4PM. This is a ticketed event, but proceeds give you a bunch of goodies (beer, food, bingo, & more) and proceeds go to helping puppies!
  • It’s Second Sunday weekend at Bagby Park! Event runs from 2 — 4PM and there will be food trucks, games, live music & more!
  • The Third Annual Taste of New Orleans is this Friday starting at 5PM! Everything that makes the Cresent city special will be on display. Go witness the food, art, culture and the music that that makes New Orleans such a special city!
  • Thursday night’s Cultured Cocktails at Boheme starting at 5PM will benefit This Side of the Rainbow, a LGBTQ charity!

  • RacePace (my new fav fitness studio in Houston) is having another social run this week on Thursday at 6:30PM! Join em’ for a 3 & 4 mile route options along the Bayou Trail and it’ll end at Holler Brewing Co!
  • Yoga & Hops is back this weekend at Karbach on Sunday from 11 — 2PM. $25 includes yoga and 1 beer! Bring ya friends for a nice morning flow!
  • Can’t forget Yoga with Cats at El Gato Coffeehouse this Saturday at 12:45 PM!
  • Bayou City Adventures is hosting a Houston Skyline Guided Tour along Buffalo Bayou. Grab your (rented) paddles and get kayakin’! Fun way to spend your Saturday from 2 — 5PM!

  • Historic Market Square Park in downtown is having another movie night and this time they’re showing Dirty Dancing! This will be on Friday starting at 8:30PM! Bring your blankets & lawn chairs and start your weekend off right with the perfect summer film!
  • Alamo Drafthouse is putting on a Pulp Fiction Beer Dinner with Saint Arnold Brewing! The show will be Thursday at 6:45 and the dinner will have great pairings with Saint Arnold’s beer! Steak tar tar, pork chops, blueberry pie & more!
  • Box 13 Artspace is hosting their closing reception for current exhibitions on Saturday from 1 —5 PM!
  • The Next Level Houston: Summer Music Series will be Friday at WOMH starting at 7PM! The Next Level Houston is a year-round monthly concert musical experience created to combine entertainment and arts as a collaboration among singers, musicians, and composers! Upscale dress required & it’s a ticketed event!
  • TX/RX Labs are having an intro to clay class on Saturday from 11 — 4PM. In this hands-on workshop you will learn the basic tools and materials used to make hand-built ceramics. $75 for 5 hours of personalized instruction, first firing, and all materials cost!
  • Brasil & Houston Film Commission are hosting another First Thursdays Short Films event on Thursday from 8 — 10PM!
  • Rocky Horror Picture Show is going on at the River Oaks Theatre on Saturday at midnight but it’s HARRY POTTER edition! Get your tickets now!
  • Lawndale Art Center is having The Big Show on Friday night starting at 7PM! This is an annual exhibition of new work by artists practicing within a 100-mile radius of Lawndale.
  • Neil Gaiman will be here on Saturday at the Wortham Theater from 8 — 9:30 with a lecture and Q&A!
  • PopShop on 19th Street in the heights is having two fun classes this weekend. On friday from 7 — 9PM there will be a Modern Origami Art Class with cocktails and light bites provided (also BYOB) and on Sunday from 11 — 1PM there will be a Wall Mounted Mason Jar Planter workshop! So cute & a great way to spend time with yo girlfriends!
