What to do in Houston this weekend | Hurricane HARVEY SURVIVAL GUIDE

It’s the last weekend in August, which means that hopefully our heat wave is coming to a close. Also, lets hope we don’t get swept away this weekend by Hurricane Harvey in Houston this weekend! Make sure to check all the links to double check events haven’t been cancelled if it starts to rain! I’ll be updating as much as I can. Stay dry!

What to do in Houston this weekend

  • Friday night there will be a Summer Night Market in the East End! From 6 — 10PM you can enjoy good food, local music, cool vendors & more! If it’s not raining – def be there!
  • Presidio is having another market on Saturday morning from 8 — 2PM. Food, art & more and a great way to check out this awesome Heights restaurant. [Update: cancelled for hurricane harvey]
  • After you leave the Presidio market you should definitely check out the Shop Local event at Karbach! They’ll be having food trucks along with local artists, designers, vintage curators, foodies & more!
  • Sunday from 2 — 7PM there will be a hip hop flea market over near downtown with a live DJ, and impossible finds from previous eras whether it was the 80’s or 90’s that were all staples in the Hip Hop culture. Eats & drinks will also be available!

What to do in Houston this weekend

  • Thursday stop by SteelCity Pops for PopNight! [Update: Cancelled due to Hurricane Harvey]
  • Saturday from noon — 4PM you can grab some brunch at Axelrad. Who doesn’t want some taiwanese fusion brunch in their lives this hurricane weekend?
  • Sunday at The Conservatory there will be a pop-up food truck taking over all day! Go check out Casian King & enjoy some awesome fusion food.
  • A Pre-Oktoberfest Oktoberfest celebration will be at King’s Bierhaus on Sunday from 3 — 6PM with beer and food specials, polka music, and more!

What to do in Houston this weekend

  • OKAY HURRICANE HARVEY we see you — so get on over to pre-party at Nettbar this Thursday with $5 frozens all day and their famous train shots are now going to be called hunker down shots!
  • Party with your pups at West Alabama Ice House on Thursday night from 7 — 10PM at the BarkHappy Houston Doggy Movie Night! Get a ticket for $12 and get entered to win a ton of prizes, plus get cool stuff off the bat for your doggo! Sounds like the perf way to get your pup out of the house before the storm!
  • It’s another trivia night at D&T Drive Inn on Thursday from 8 — 10PM, but this time it’s Seinfeld trivia! It should be a good time and D&T is featuring Saint Arnold’s beer, so go out and support!
  • Thursday night is Memorial Park Conservancy’s Lawn Party! There will be lawn games, food trucks, drinks & more and a great way to find out more about one of our coolest parks.
  • Friday night, go retro gamer and join the retro tournament at Saint Arnold’s Brewery! There will be Super Street Fighter II, Mario Kart 64, and Super Smash Bros.! The tournament entry fee is $10 each. Go play or just enjoy watching with a brew in hand!
  • Starting at 10AM on Saturday Under The Radar Brewery will be celebrating their one year anniversary until close! Food trucks, live music, and Under the Radar beer and of course, it’s a dog friendly patio so bring your pups!
  • The Houston Roller Derby will be on Saturday at 7PM at the Revention Music Center and sounds like a really fun way to spend your night! There will also be an after party at Christian’s Tailgate on White Oak!
  • Sunday you’ll want to be at Eureka Heights Brewery for a fun day of board games. We’ll need it after all this rain. So from noon — 6PM go and enjoy Sunday Game Day with over 200+ board games available, and they’ll even teach you how to play.

What to do in Houston this weekend

  • Thursday night from 7 — 8PM there’s salsa dancing at Discovery Green! Learn from amazing instructors from the first salsa studio in Houston and learn salsa, merengue, bachata, rueda, and other Latin dances.
  • Get your three mile run in during RacePace’s Social Run with Holler Brewing Co. on Thursday from 6:30 — 9:30! Starts & ends at Holler Brewing Co. so you can cool down with a nice brew. Check out my blog post on their studio here.
  • Critical Mass will take off Friday night starting in downtown Houston and going through all the cool hoods. If you’ve never heard of critical mass & you’re into social bike rides definitely check it out here!
  • If it’s not already raining Friday night, get on down to Eureka Heights Brewery for a Wheelie Fun Social Ride starting at 7PM! You’ll hit up Petrol Station, Cottonwood, and then end at Eureka Heights for some discounted beers!
  • Saturday get over to CityCentre for Nama’slay at 9AM where you get a free yoga class, and then get pampered with facials, manis, pedis & more! Grab your friends & get flowin’. PS do RSVP so they know how many people will be there!
  • Another Eureka Heights activity — get on over there on Sunday for C4 Madness-N-Beer! This is a donation based class (5$ recommended) that incorporates low-to-high intensity intervals with rest periods. Your contribution will get you a discounted beer ticket for after the class at Eureka Heights Brew Co. and all proceeds will go to United Against Human Trafficking!
  • Yoga&Hops will be goin’ down all weekend around the city — Thursday, 6:30 at No Label Brewing; Thursday, 7PM at Eureka Heights; Sunday, 11AM at Karbach.

What to do in Houston this weekend

  • Thursday starting at 7:30PM Hotel Derek will be putting on their Float & Flick event where you can chill in the pool and enjoy Ferris Bueller’s Day Off! $20 admission but it gets you gourmet popcorn, one drink ticket, self-parking, and access to SPLASH pool starting at 7:30pm not to mention they’ll be serving bites from Revolve Kitchen + Bar’s summer menu, fruit cocktails and the very best local craft beers!
  • Godspell will be at Miller Outdoor Theatre this weekend so go and enjoy this spirited revival of the 1970s Broadway hit musical that’s based on the Gospel of Matthew.
  • Midnight Madness at River Oaks Theatre is back with their monthly showing of Rocky Horror Picture Show! Check out the cult classic Saturday at midnight!
