I am a toner girl. Every time I run out of one I like to try a new one (aside from going back to my all-time fav, Korres Pomegranate Toner every once in a while). I get a lot of different responses when I tell my friends that I use toner which range from ooh what are you using to what does toner even really do?
Toner basically can do a few different things depending on which one you buy— which means you can pick and choose what you want based on what your skin needs! Toner can balance (or cleanse) the skin. It resets the PH of your skin, which technically your skin does already but it takes a bit longer naturally and this speeds up the process! Toner can be a good exfoliator if there are acids in it, and it can also (and probably most importantly) hydrate your skin by attracting moisture from the air and trapping it. Lastly it helps your skin absorb serums, gels, creams etc. So you don’t have to use as much of your other products! Woooo toner!
Okay, so why is this relevant right now? BTW I am not a skincare expert but I do love it. I popped into Sephora to grab a new toner this past weekend and came out with this Sunday Riley Martian Mattifying Melting Water-Gel Toner. Why did I pick this one? Well firstly I’ve heard good things about the brand, it’s green, AND I thought it was cheaper than it actually was. Oops. They do have a smaller size available that I probably would’ve gone with. That being said I do use toner morning and night so it def gets used. This toner is for oily, blemish-prone skin and I have combination so we’ll see how it works out for me. I’ll check back in to tell y’all how I feel about this stuff.
That being said— other toners I’ve used and liked:
- Korres Pomegranate Toner
- MILK Makeup Matcha Toner
- Kiehl’s Rare Earth Pore Refining Tonic
- Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Oil-Free Toner
Let me know if you use toner and which ones are your favorite in the comments below! Have you used the Sunday Riley one? Hit a girl up.
